The Skeleton of Hearts

The skeleton of hearts, he made some tarts,
All on a winter's day.

And then he stole and stole some more
Until he'd a buffet,

The Skeleton of Hearts gave back the tarts;

They filled him with dismay.

"Instead of tarts, some body parts
Would better make my day."

The Skeleton of Hearts set out to start
A harvesting foray.
The first he took... it had to smart,

But soon he found a way...

...To quickly make a heart depart
From its unwilling donor.

And soon the Skeleton of Hearts
Was that new organ's owner.

But one heart just was not enough,

Nor were three hearts or four.

The Skeleton of Hearts kept stealing,

Always wanting more.

Just for now, he's locked up tight;

Your heart is safe today.

But look out for the Skeleton

On heart-filled holiday.

The Creature from the Mossy Lagoon

Remember the Creature from the Black Lagoon? 

A strange prehistoric beast lurked in the depths of the Amazonian jungle. A group of scientists tried to capture the animal and bring it back to civilization for study. 

Well, this is the Creature's sweet-natured cousin. 

She lived in a mossy lagoon where she studied botany
 and all manners of flora and fauna. 

She didn't just embrace the green lifestyle. She WAS the green lifestyle.

And though that life is over, she remains a beacon of green. 

She's very popular at the skeleton's ball, not only because she dances a mean tango, but because she does the floral arrangements and heads up the recycling committee.

Skeletina the Chanteuse

Skeletina the Chanteuse 

Skeletina was a chanteuse in the time of  Toulous Lautrec.  
(You may have seen her in some of his artworks.)

One night, while drinking champagne from her slipper...




...she lost her balance and fell.





She hit her head on the cafe table upon which she was standing...





.....and tumbled to the floor as a Can Can played on.





The waiters tried, in vain, to minister to her injuries, but they were, alas, fatal.





Now Skeletina sings no more in the dance halls of Paris.





Instead she is the lead vocal singer for many a Day of the Dead celebration.

How the Great Badini Became the Great Skeletini

There was a dancer named Badini

Who'd dance as he sipped a martini
To tangos and cha-chas, mambo and fandango
While dining on cav'ar and blini.

He was a sensation, they say,
And he danced with the Bolshoi ballet.

His jetes and plies
Raised shouts, cheers and hoorays.

He was the dance craze of his day.

His troupe flew to El Tropicale
Performing at a dancer's rally
A wheel from the roulette

Caught Badini mid-jet--

And made the dance his grande finale.

At Badini's funeral wake
The dancers did weep, wail, and shake
For he went at his peak
And in fact, in mid-leap;

His Swan Lake did its final take.

  Now Day of the Dead is his venue
And sugar skulls head up the menu.

The dancer Badini
Is now Skeletini
Dancing in the great now and then-u.
