My Name is Rhino. I'm a Feline Kleptomaniac.

My name is Rhino.  I am a Feline Kleptomaniac.  The furless one spends a lot of time in my room.  She plays with BrightandShinyThings like those turquoise nuggets.

I like to play with BrightandShinyThings.  And she has so many.  Little bits of carnelian.

Nuggets of Baltic Amber.

Little shiny rolling pieces of jasper.

Pieces of Chalcedony just the right size for dropping down the floor heater.

The rest I keep in my bed.  She thinks I never leave my bed, except to eat and poop.  But when she's gone, I get up and stretch and help myself to anything that's out.  Or anything in a plastic bag.  Okay.  Anything.

Then she sells them and goes crazy looking for them.  The bearded one tells her she needs a better organizational system.  She probably does.  But it's too late.  Because now those pieces are mine.  All mine!

(Insert evil cat laugh here.)

Sincerely,

Rhino

P.S.

The furless one would like to point out that these BrightandShinyThings are available in her etsy shop. Actually, they're in my bed.  Maybe she'll find them on Laundry Day.  Or not.

5 Surefire Ways to Be Safe at Sea

Planning a cruise? A boating adventure?  A triathlon? Don't worry.  Here are some good luck omens for the briny deep.

1.  Dolphins swimming with the ship are a sign of good luck.

Dolphins are considered a sacred friend of fishermen, they have the good fortunes of man in mind and their presence indicates that you are under their protection.

2.  Black cats are considered good luck and will bring a sailor home from the sea.

While black is the color of death, and black bags or clothing are harbingers of doom, black cats are considered lucky on the sea.

3.  Doves seen at sea are a good sign.

Doves are a land based bird and seeing them at sea implies that land is near and your prospects are clear.

4.  Seeing a sea turtle swimming alongside the ship is a sign of good luck.

The Sea Turtle, or Honu, is one of the oldest species in the world and because of that every culture seems to have a history that includes them. Even more special is that the theme around the Sea Turtle is always a positive one; the sea turtle is the ultimate navigator.  In addition, he is said to being prosperity, good luck, wisdom, and longevity.

5.  Chalcedony provides protection against drowning.

Chalcedony combats negative magic of all kinds. It has the power to inspire confidence, soothing depression and a troubled mind, and ease bad dreams. As a symbol of the moon, it has strong connections to water, and can be used as a protection against drowning. Travelers will also benefit from the stone, especially if they travel over water.

These various methods of protection can be found in both my eBay and etsy stores.

P.S.

A dog seen near fishing tackle is considered bad luck.

So keep the dog separate from your Fishin' Magician.

Kitty Confessions, Part V

My name is Uncle Buckethead and I'm a rescue kitty. I live with the Bearded One, in his room with his collections of LPs, DVDs, graphic novels, ceramics, and several million drawings that he won't sell.  I was rescued when I was a little girl, living outside with my siblings and the coyotes.  Life is good now.  The house is filled with litterboxes and feeding dishes, and there's always a cat or dog to curl up with.  When I want adventure, I jump out a window and watch the Bearded One search for me.
But I miss my siblings.  There was Fluffy Bottom and Prime Minister Monkey.  They are far away now, and I would really like to communicate with them.  So when The Goddess of BrightandShinyThings started making her earrings this week, I sat right under her chair.  And I waited, because she always drops a little something to appease the Gravity Gods.

And sure enough, she did.  First she dropped an entire amethyst nugget.  You can see the size of them in this photo.  Amethysts aren't just for healing and contentment.  Oh, no.  You see,  in the psychic and spiritual realms, amethyst is an excellent all-purpose stone that can increase spirituality and enhance intuition and psychic powers of all kinds.  Just what this kitty needed!

I figured if I waited some more, she's make another gift to the Gravity Gods, and I didn't have to wait long.  Pretty soon a nice chunk of Purple Chalcedony bounced right by my paw.

Purple Chalcedony is the best for awakening dormant psychic capacities.  I have a lot of dormant capacities.  I'm a cat, after all.  But, with the Purple Chalcedony, I was on the path to Clairvoyance!  Clairaudience! And Clairsentience!

I figured it couldn't get any better than that.  I was one gemstone away from a chat with Prime Minister Monkey.  But the Gravity Gods were good.  No sooner had I hidden the Purple Chalcedony than I was greeted by Fluorite Falls!

Sure, I had all the psychic stones I needed. But I'm a cat.  I'm not known for deep thought processes.  I needed something to focus the brain cells I have.  And here it was.  Fluorite.  It has the ability to influence the activities that occur on the mental plane of consciousness, amplifying, focusing, expanding, and creating new pathways for my mind.

So if you'll excuse me, I'll be putting myself in a trance so I can commune with the sibs.  I can't wait to hear the stories Prime Minister Monkey always tells.  He's a real stitch. I coughed up a hairball last time we chatted.

If you need me, I'll be on the astral plane.

But call me when it's dinner time.

Gemstone earrings here and here.  Buck on the Astral Plane.

I'll See You on the Dark Side of the Moon

Pink Floyd, in Brain Damage, sang:

And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear
You shout and no one seems to hear
And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon.

The world of charms prefers to avoid apocalyptic weather conditions. The skies are made not of clouds and oxygen and hydrogen, but of gemstones and beads, and the moon, in its many phases, can be fashioned from silver or glass or even clay.

The clouded dark sky of this bracelet, brought about by the weather god charms, was created from disks and rounds and plates of sky quartz and blueberry quartz, lapis, purple chalcedony, labradorite, and violet jade.

Three phases of the moon shine amongst them: a waxing crescent with a comet, the full moon, and a waning crescent.

At night, while you sleep, the weather gods may tiptoe out and change the sky for a new day. Who knows what gemstones the future holds?
