The Harvest Angels watches over the harvest.
But she does more. After everything is harvested, the Harvest Angels makes sure that seeds and kernels and bits of the crop are left behind...
...so that all the animals have enough food to hold them through the cold winter ahead.
Everyone needs a harvest angel. She can be found here and here.
Mabon is the Autumn Equinox. The Autumn Equinox divides the day and night equally, and we all take a moment to pay our respects to the impending dark. We also give thanks to the waning sunlight, as we store our harvest of this year's crops. The Druids call this celebration, Mea'n Fo'mhair, and honor the The Green Man, the God of the Forest, by offering libations to trees. Offerings of ciders, wines, herbs and fertilizer are appropriate at this time. Wiccans celebrate the aging Goddess as she passes from Mother to Crone, and her consort the God as he prepares for death and re-birth.

More Than a Day
It brings up some facts, quite profound.
We may think that we're poor,
Feel like bums, insecure,
But in truth, our riches astound.
We have guidance from heaven above.
We have so much more
Than they sell in a store,
We're wealthy, when push comes to shove.
Make Thanksgiving last more than a day.
Enjoy what you've got;
Realize it's a lot,
And you'll make all your cares go away.

Hair of the Leaf That Bit You
Remember when you were a kid
Who played in leaves in fall?
You'd hurl yourself into the pile
And hardly hurt at all.
But if you tried the same jump now
You'd need a chiropractor.
In fact, it would feel quite a bit
Like falling off a tractor.
So wear these leaves twined in your hair
And leave jumps to the kid.
Your body will feel better
And your hair feel glad you did.
