The Silver Fish

by Shel Silverstein

While fishing in the blue lagoon
I caught a lovely silver fish,
And he spoke to me, "My boy," quoth he,
"Please set me free and I'll grant your wish...

A kingdom of wisdom? A palace of gold?
Or all the goodies your fancies can hold?"
So I said, "OK," and I threw him free,
And he swam away and he laughed at me
Whispering my foolish wish
Into a silent sea.

Today I caught that fish again,
That lovely silver prince of fishes,
And once again he offered me—
If I would only set him free—
Any one of a number of wonderful wishes...

He was delicious!

Un-delicious fishes here.

How Green Was My Bracelet?

I started pondering: could I make a bracelet entirely out of recycled beads? I didn’t need to ponder that for long. Of course I could. I love beach glass, and recycled glass. It gets that texture from being pounded by the waves (or a tumbler).

So I made a bracelet, earrings, and a necklace entirely out of beach or sea glass and recycled glass. I even used some recycled glass beads hand painted in Ghana, Africa. They’re very funky and fun.

So here’s my It’s Surprisingly Easy to Be Green. Kermit would be so proud.
