The Top Ten Reasons to Adopt a Black Cat

Contrary to popular belief, in many cultures, black cats are thought to be lucky.

Consider the Old English charm:

Freya, the Norse Goddess of Love & Fertility drives a chariot pulled by two black cats.

To dream of a black cat is thought by many people to be a lucky omen.

In the theater world, it is thought that a black cat in the audience means the play will be successful.

In the south of France, black cats are referred to as "matagots" or "magician cats."

Fisherman's wives often kept black cats while their husbands went away to sea, believing the black cats protected their husbands from danger.

Yet black cats are the most commonly euthanized cats in shelters, because they are the hardest to place.

In our Frigidaire--

He likes it 'cause it's cold in there.

With his seat in the meat

And his face in the fish

And his big hairy paws

In the buttery dish,

He's nibbling the noodles,

He's munching the rice,

He's slurping the soda,

He's licking the ice.

And he lets out a roar

If you open the door.

And it gives me a scare

To know he's in there--

How the Sparkle Fairies Turned Winter Into Spring: the Winter Sparkle Blog Hop

Most people think that the groundhog is responsible for turning winter into spring.

That's a myth.

Winter is actually turned into spring by the Sparkle Fairies who live in the LandofBrightandShinyThings.

They are assisted by trolls, who are a reclusive lot. They live under bridges...

...and are made out of Ugly Beads.

When the Season of Sparkle is 'nigh...

...the Sparkle Fairies and Ugly Bead Trolls gather all their sparkliness from the skies...

... and make spring... which they call the post-sparkly season.

They string and wire sparkles together to make a new season...

The trolls have the unenviable job of sweeping up the wire scraps and sorting them out from the dropped beads. The sorting is a job best done under bridges.
